How we support the community
We believe that communities, and the people who belong to them, are the experts in how these communities can grow and flourish.
That’s why the Village Well seeks to support community groups to provide the activities and services that they know are important, rather than provide those services on their behalf.
If you belong to a community group or initiative that could use the space and support that the Village Well offers, we’d love to explore those opportunities with you.
We provide discount venue hire to help new initiatives get established, and can provide supports around such things as governance, marketing, & fundraising.
Opening Doors – A Community Leadership Program for Social Inclusion
The Village Well is proud to be the home of the Opening Doors Community Leadership Program for Social Inclusion
Social isolation can impacts any of us at any time. Those of us who are older, have lived experience of mental ill-health, disability or financial hardship, or come from diverse cultural, religious or gender identity backgrounds may also experience increased barriers to participation in their local community.
Opening Doors equips participants with the knowledge, skills, resources and networks to make the local community more socially inclusive.
We support 20 participants each year through a three day intensive, and 10 fortnightly workshops to develop leadership skills, expand community networks, increase knowledge, and build self-confidence. This enables participants to develop a local initiative that connects community members who might be experience or at risk of social isolation.
